The Heart Of Yoga by T.K.V. Desikachar - If you read only one Yoga book in your life, this is the one to read. I cannot say any more about this book, it encompasses the truth behind the Yoga experience like no other and is renowned throughout the Yoga Community worldwide as a masterpiece. Buy it, read it, but more importantly follow its wisdom.
Yoga Equipment
EkoTex - Ultra Black 66 - this mat is the ultimate 'lifetime' mat, and I've had one for about 4 years now without any sign of wear despite daily practice. Its ultra-thick padding is unrivalled and protects my knees on even the hardest floors without any need for extra padding or doubling over. Its downside (apart from the cost) is that it is very heavy, and you need to be careful if buying a mat bag to make sure it's big enough to fit this in. Buy this mat mostly for home use - your knees will thank you and you'll never need to buy another.
EkoTex - Ultra Purple 60 - this mat is a lighter version of the Ultra Black mat, and is more suitable for when you're on the move, as in group classes. It is slightly thinner than the Ultra Black, but made of the same materials and still provides more protection for your knees than other mats. If you want to see what this mat is like, this is the one I use in class so please ask and you can try it out.
