Yoga for Wellbeing in Irvine
This kind of class is aimed at improving the health of most everyday people who are generally healthy - even if you are currently unfit! This is an easy-going class that is suitable for all levels of ability and experience, from complete beginners to seasoned practitioners. We will do some movement practices and breathing or meditative practices, and finish off the class with a lying relaxation practice. The overall aim of Yoga for Wellbeing is to gradually improve your overall mental, emotional and physical wellbeing over a period of time, reducing the impact of stress in your life. Everyone in these classes is encouraged to move at their own pace, doing every practice at a level appropriate to their own body's needs. If you have specific health issues that would prevent you partaking in a moderate level of movement and exercise, then Group Classes may not be suitable for you. If so, please follow these links to read the appropriate sections of my website on One-to-One Classes, Yoga for Healing, Yoga for Pregnancy and/or Postnatal Yoga. Where? This class is currently held in Ayrshire Central Hospital, Kilwinning Road, Irvine. The class will be held within the physiotherapy gym of the Douglas Grant Rehab Centre. To find how to get to the Hospital, please look at the interactive map here. From the grounds of Ayrshire Central Hospital, please follow signs directing you to the Douglas Grant Rehab Centre. From the front doors of the centre, just keep walking straight ahead to find the gym.
When? This class runs on Monday evenings and begins promptly at 7pm. Please arrive at least 5 minutes before class starts in order to be settled when we begin, and not to disturb everyone else when you enter. This class finishes about 8.30pm. What to bring? Please wear comfortable clothing as appropriate to the current temperature, remembering that we often spend periods of time at stillness. You will need to bring your own yoga mat (usually available at Tesco, Asda, TK Maxx and many other stores locally). I also recommend that you bring a blanket to keep you warm during relaxation. Cost? This class costs £50 per 10-week block (discounted rate of £40 for NHS employees at this class) - please read this page on Block Bookings before reading any further. Please note, to avoid embarrassment, that full payment for each block is required before joining the class. Payment by online booking, personal cheque (with guarantee card) or cash is accepted. Anything else? It is best not to eat for two or three hours before coming, but it is good for your body to take in some water before practice (though not too much). Respect for your fellow students is expected at all times during class, especially if you arrive late. Please do not disturb other students by talking or acting inappropriately in class. How to Join This Class? There are currently places available in this class. Please select the appropriate option below and click on the "Buy Now" button to make an online booking (via the secure PayPal site):- |
