Mindful Meditation in Kilmarnock

What is Mindful Meditation? Reception at Time to Relax Therapy Centre

The word Meditation can conjure up some scary ideas of sitting staring at walls or in silence for hours on end. The aim of this class is to show that this isn't how it needs to be, and that meditative practices can be accessible to anyone with the will to give it a good go.

In this class we will look at the practice and theory behind this thing called Meditation, with the focus always on practice. We will explore techniques that might involve imagination or mindfulness or many other approaches to achieve the calm state of mind that is called meditation. Due to the shortness of the class, emphasis will be on the practice throughout.

The aim with these simple practices will be to arm students with the know-how to develop a regular home practice and permanently impact on the effect that stress has on your life. This class will be suitable for all levels of ability and experience.

Group classes are suitable for most people who are generally healthy - even if you are currently unfit! However, if you have specific health issues that would prevent you from sitting or lying still (supported by a chair or props as necessary) for reasonable periods of time (20-40 mins), then this class may not be suitable for you.

If so, please follow these links to read the appropriate sections of my website on One-to-One Classes, Yoga for Healing, Yoga for Pregnancy and/or Postnatal Yoga.

Where?

This class is held within the Training Room at the "Time to Relax" Therapy Centre, 1 Langlands Brae, Kilmarnock.

This venue is near to Kilmarnock Train Station in the  town centre. It is next door to Curves Gym, and both these premises share private customer parking to the rear. You can find an interactive map here.

When?

This class runs on Wednesday evenings from 8.30pm to 9.30pm.

Please arrive at least 5 minutes before class starts in order to be settled when we begin, and not to disturb everyone else when you enter, however please do not enter until the previous class has finished and the room is clear, waiting quietly until such time.

Please also be respectful of the other therapists and clients within the Centre and help to maintain the quiet and tranquillity of the Centre before and after class.

What to bring?

Please wear comfortable clothing as appropriate to the current temperature, remembering that we often spend periods of time at stillness.

You will need to bring your own yoga mat as none are available at this venue. I also recommend that you bring a blanket to keep you warm during relaxation.

Cost?

All Explore Yoga classes are attended on a 10- week block booking basis only.  This means that you cannot drop-in to a class or "pay as you go". Full payment of £30 for each block is required before joining the class. Payment by online booking, personal cheque (with guarantee card) or cash is accepted.

For full details of the various block booking options, please visit our Block Booking page.

Anything else?

It is best not to eat for two or three hours before coming, but it is good for your body to take in some water before practice (though not too much).

Respect for your fellow students is expected at all times during class, especially if you arrive late.

Please do not disturb other students by talking or acting inappropriately in class.
